About the event
The Riding School at the James River Equestrian Center hosts a Spring and Fall horse show each year for the riding school students. These horse shows are open to all Riding School riders and serve as a fun and competitive way for our students to showcase their horsback riding skills. The show has divisions suitable for all of our riders and the classes are broken down so that every competitor receives a ribbon.
The Riding School horse shows are a great avenue for those deciding whether or not to go beyond a recreational level of riding. If these horse shows are appealing to the students they may decide to transition to the Boarder barn at JREC, where riders can lease horses and show regularly on the Capital Horse Show Association (CHSA) circuit. In the case that students are content with riding weekly, the riding school shows are a fun way to test their skills and experience the feel of a horse show without the commitment of a horse lease or ownership.
